American Ninja Warrior – Season IV

ATS designed and created the entire challenge obstacle course including the Las Vegas finals for American Ninja Warrior – Season 4. In total, we traveled to four cities covering six regions with our armada of six semi-trucks packed full. Our core team of eight unpacked all the trucks and built the course in just a few days at each location – overcoming some incredible challenges in the process. In addition to doing all the rigging, we did the construction of the actual challenges, provided the set medic and general contestant safety, and handled all the stunt coordination.

Honolulu Ascent/Descent – The Amazing Race

The Producers of The Amazing Race asked us to create an angled ascent up a 400 foot tall building for the season finale. With no fall protection present at the top we had to build our own as we created the structure. In order for contestants to clear the building we had to lean the front wall of our rig 20 degrees out over the building. Once contestants reached the top and spotted the next clue, we hooked them up for a Aussie-style descent straight down the side. For five days of rigging, shooting, and striking we had a blast creating this unique spectacle.

King Swing – The Amazing Race

The Amazing Race asked for a stomach-dropping king swing for the season finale. We delivered just that off the cranes at the Port of Long Beach. The Creators Project – Coachella

We jumped at the chance to help our friends at SGPS Showrig build an alien cathedral of light for The Creators Project at Coachella 2011. Fitting into a tight time schedule, we were able to erect a very stable structure to withstand the high winds and high heat of Palm Springs. In the end everything got covered with fabric and plywood, but we think it looked pretty good with just the truss.

The Ring – Shedding for the Wedding

When the Producers of Shedding for the Wedding asked for a challenge with a wedding theme, we knew it had to go in the air. After custom welding giant wedding rings, we hoisted contestants into the air to see who could hold on the longest. The winning team made it almost 30 minutes!

Walk The Plank – Focus Rally America

We couldn’t pass up the opportunity to build a 12″ wide balance beam over the Grand Canyon. Contestants on “Focus Rally America” had to walk the plank and retrieve the clue. A beautiful location to build.The full heart-pounding stunt is below.

Crane-scender – The Biggest Loser

We rigged off two cranes in the Port of Long Beach. Using super truss and several miles of rope, we enabled contestants in our custom shark cages to ascend over 100 feet in tot he air.

Coit Tower Ascension – The Amazing Race

For this season of The Amazing Race, producers asked us to setup an ascension of historic Coit Tower in San Francisco. Due to its historical nature, we had to take great care not to cause any damage to this structure including footprints against the tower. As such, we built out from the top with truss and use the entire building as an anchor utilizing soft links and padding throughout. The job was seamless and we didn’t even leave a scratch (or footprint).

Canyon Cable Cross – The Biggest Loser

Contestants on the Biggest Loser had to cross a canyon over 800 feet across and 100 feet off the ground. The hardest part was the rigging – we had sustained wind gusts of 50mph throughout the two days. But, the end challenge was worth every piece of grit in our teeth!
